Amber Bell 2021 Year-End Summary
It’s that time of year again…in addition to changing from Pumpkin Spiced Lattes to Peppermint Mochas, late fall also signals the time that Microsoft drops new features and fixes for Microsoft Dynamics GP. This year, they have fixes for the latest IRS changes to 1099 Forms. If you print your 1099s out of GP, you will need to schedule your update to GP for as soon as possible. We know there will be some clients that might wait for the last minute, but don’t let that be you! If you schedule now, you will have more dates and times available and we can make sure to work with you to get this done before the forms are due.
We recently had some support cases with clients that were unable to email out of GP due to conflicts with MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication). We are happy to announce that the 2021 Year-End release has a fix for this issue. It also includes the fix that was released last year for Microsoft Word templates/forms. If you use GP along with Microsoft Office 365, you need to keep up to date with the GP releases. As Microsoft adds security features behind the scenes for their Office products, GP is keeping up by including code in the yearly updates.
As more and more companies transition to Office 365, the need for yearly GP updates has become more important. This means that updating GP should be part of your planning for each year-end. The good news is that if you keep up with these yearly updates, the installation and testing will be much more simple than the old days of major upgrades with multiple table changes. We always recommend testing and reviewing these updates, but we are happy to report that for most clients, this process has become quicker and easier!
We look forward to helping you update your system. Please contact support@dexprodynamics.com or your project manager to get the update installation scheduled.
